The design in this painting depicts the claypan site of Kirrimalunya, north of
the Kiwirrkurra Community. In mythological times a large group of Tingari Men
camped at this site before travelling to Lake Mackay.

George Tjungurrayi was born in the desert in the vicinity of Kiwirrkura and is
the younger brother of Naata Nungurrayi. George walked in to Papunya with another
young man along a freshly graded road, after living at Mukula west of Kiwirrkura.
He commenced painting for Papunya Tula Artists in the early 1980’s.
