GEORGE TJAMPU TJAPALTJARRI (BORN CIRCA 1945)

Acrylic on Belgian linen

183 x 153 cm

The painting depicts designs associated with the rockhole site of Tarkul, north of Mt. Webb in Western Australia. In mythological times a large group of Tingari Men camped at this site before travelling to Tjuln and Tjuntulpul. The roundels represent these sites and the lines are the sandhills surrounding the sites. Since events associated with the Tingari Cycle are of a secret nature no further detail was given.
