PINTA PINTA TJAPANANGKA (CIRCA 1930~1999)

The site associated with this painting is the western edge of Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay), which straddles the border between the Northern Territory and Western Australia. It was here in the Dreamtime that two men made a fire which threatened many of the Dreamtime totemic figures.

No further detail was revealed as this story forms part of the post initiatory teaching and is restricted from public access.

Pinta Pinta Tjapanangka was born at Yumari. He started painting in the early 1970’s and continued painting until just prior to his death in July, 1999. His country lies to the north of Mt. Webb in Western Australia, and the sites and mythologies he painted extended from this area to north Kintore in the Northern Territory.
