archive in the possession of Papunya Tula Artists.
PROVENANCE
Consignment 19 to the Stuart Art Centre, August, 1972
Purchased by Mr. Graham Marshal, accountant for the Art Centre, from a customer
of that accounting firm, in 1976.
Long Jack Phillipus was born at Kalipinya, his mother's country, the sacred
Rain Dreaming site north-east of Walungurru. After having worked at Haasts
Bluff (c.1957-1959) as a timber contractor and stockman, Jack Phillipus eventually
settled at Papunya. He is both a ceremonial leader and devout Christian and
is a foundation member of Papunya Tula Artists.
