MARNIE WARK Wark is a South Australian abstract artist who was raised in the Barossa and now lives in the Adelaide Hills. Surrounded by the ever-changing colours and shapes, the environment is a great source of inspiration in her work. Wark's recent work, draws inspiration from the spacial relationships between groups of large rocks and the varying compositional dynamic that they create. Her attention to the qualities of texture, colour and shape is matched by an inherent sense of the tension that the careful arrangement of these rocks create. Her pieces are essentially studies in composition and colour, trying convey a feeling of space that is evocative of the landscape that she is working in. Great importance is placed on the tension between line and shape, form and content, simplicity and vibrancy, resulting in a never-ending exploration of the spirit of space. |
