This painting depicts body paint designs associated with Tingari Ceremonies at the swamp
site of Pangpanga, west of the Kintore Community. This is Ronnie’s father’s Dreaming.
In mythological times a large number of Tingari men camped at this site. Since events

Ronnie was born at Tjiturrunya west of Mawuyan, across the Northern Territory border in
Western Australia. He spent most of his formative years as a nomad in the remote desert
surrounding his birthplace. He was initiated at the Winparku area of Western Australia, but
due to drought conditions in the 1950s, he and his family walked into Haasts Bluff where he
worked as a stockman. Ronnie and his family were then moved to the newly formed Papunya
settlement in the early 1960s where he worked as a fencer, making yards for cattle. Ronnie
commenced painting in 1971.
