This painting depicts designs associated with the soakage water site of Tjunurulnya, west of
the Kiwirrkura community. In mythological times a large group of Tingari men camped at
this site before continuing their travels further east. Since events associated with the Tingari
Cycle are of a secret nature no further detail is given.

Joseph Jurra Tjapaltjarri, was born in the desert near where the community of Kiwirrkura now
stands in Western Australia in approximately 1952. He commenced painting in 1986 and in
1999 Joseph contributed to the Kintore mens’ painting as part of the Western Desert Dialysis
Appeal.
